    GENERAL ELECTION AND QUALIFYING FEES

     
    In accordance with O.C.G.A. 21-2-13(a)(1)(A) and 21-2-131(a)(1)(B) notice is hereby given that the City of Metter will hold a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 for the purpose of electing a mayor and two council members from the following districts for four-year terms:
        
    MAYOR
    At Large
    Term beginning 01/01/2018 ending 12/31/2021

    CITY COUNCIL
    Seat 2 District 1
    Term beginning 01/01/2018 ending 12/31/2021

    Seat 4 District 2
    Term beginning 01/01/2018 ending 12/31/2021
     
    The qualifying fee for the position of mayor is $171.00.

    The qualifying fee for the position of city council is $81.00.

    In accordance with section 21-2-132(d)(3) of the Georgia Election Code and Rules of the State Election Board, the qualifying period shall begin Monday, August 21, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. and run through Friday, August 25, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall, 49 S. Rountree St., Metter, GA.

    The voter registration deadline to vote in the November 7, 2017 General Election is October 10, 2017.

  • About Metter Fire-Rescue

    The Metter Fire-Rescue Department is a combination department consisting of fulltime professional firefighters and volunteer professional firefighters. Our coverage area is 249 square miles covering the entire Candler County area. Fire station #1 is located in downtown Metter at 56 South Lewis Street, and station #2 is located at 120 South Main Street in the Town of Pulaski. We have an ISO rating of a class 4 within the City of Metter and in the Town of Pulaski. The area outside the City of Metter within 5 road miles of the Metter Station #1 has an ISO rating of 4Y. The area outside the Town of Pulaski within 5 road miles of the Pulaski Station #2 has an ISO rating of class 4Y. We have mutual aid agreements with all surrounding fire departments.  

    The Metter Fire-Rescue provides the highest level of emergency services, which includes:
    •    fire protection
    •    rescue services
    •    emergency management
    •    public education and fire prevention
