Georgia Cities Week 2025

The City of Metter will be celebrating “Georgia Cities Week” April 21st – 25th hosting a variety of events including Metter PD & Fire Greeting at Metter Elementary School, Coloring Contest, Coffee with Council, and a Downtown Event!  We will also have free adoptions at the Animal Shelter all week! The theme of this year’s Georgia Cities Week is “Imagine the Possible.”

Events planned for the week are:

• On Monday, April 21st from 8 am - 5:00 pm, the City of Metter will host a Georgia Cities Week Cookies with Customer Service at City Hall. Stop by and grab a cookie!

• A Grab-N-Go Lunch honoring all city employees will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd from 12 pm - 1 pm at the GGIC Building.

• On Wednesday April 23rd, we have two events! The first event, the Metter Police Department & Metter Fire Department will be greeting kids at Metter Elementary School at drop-off. Second event, Coffee with Council at the Metter Welcome Center 7:30 am – 9:00 am.

• Thursday Downtown Event! Thursday, April 24th in the Central Downtown Park from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm come and enjoy Food Trucks, Music, Face Painting, Walk the new park, Meet our pets that are looking for a new home, Meet each department within the City of Metter, Games including a Scavenger Hunt, and Touch-A-Truck event to see vehicles used by each Department. We can’t wait to see you there!

• Giving Friday! On Friday April 25th, we are accepting donations for the Metter Animal Shelter. Donations can be dropped of at City Hall from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Want to adopt a furry friend? Metter Animal Shelter will be having Free adoptions all week!

•  Georgia Cities Week Coloring Contest for children Pre-K – 3RD grade. Coloring contest will begin Monday April 21st – Thursday April 24rd . Winners will be announced Friday, April 25th.
