Candler EMA- Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) Available for Candler County Residents The Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) has opened a temporary office at the National Guard Armory on Fortner Road in Metter to assist residents impacted by Hurricane Helene with applying for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits. 📍 Location: National Guard Armory 🗓️Dates: This week, Monday, Nov. 18, through Saturday, Nov. 23 ⏰ Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM D-SNAP provides one-time benefits to help families who have suffered disaster-related losses to property or income. Eligibility Requirements: - Must live in one of the eligible counties impacted by Hurricane Helene, including Candler County. - Must meet financial and disaster-related loss criteria. - Must provide proof of identity for the head of household and authorized representative (if applicable). 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 - 𝐃𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 Storm debris collection activities throughout Candler County, Metter & Pulaski are 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟏𝐬𝐭. The 𝐔𝐒 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 (quality control) and 𝐀𝐬𝐡 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭 (debris collection) will be mobilizing throughout the county to collect debris in the rights-of-way. These personnel are independently contracted through the state of Georgia and are not contracted directly with Candler County or the cities of Metter or Pulaski. Collections personnel and equipment will be clearly marked and will not require any agreement or payment from a resident. Citizens should immediately move all debris they wish to have picked up to the edge of their property and the right of way as described in the infographic attached. Phase IV Streetscape Project construction of the Central Park will begin on Monday August 5, 2024. There will be a security fence put up around the park, then construction will begin. Central Park will be closed to parking and any use for events.
