Metter, Georgia, (pop. 3,969), located in the heart of South Georgia’s Magnolia Midlands, is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Interim City Manager.  The position reports to a Mayor and five-member council, serves as the city’s chief administrative officer, and oversees the general and enterprise operations of the city. Enterprise activities include Water, Sewer, and Solid Waste.  The City Manager is responsible for leading approximately 59 employees and administering an annual budget of $12,070,783. 

Metter’s beautiful downtown business district and historic residential neighborhoods along scenic divided roadways combine traditional small-town culture with the modern conveniences that come with a location on a major state artery. Metter is the county seat of Candler County. It is conveniently located only 20 minutes from Statesboro and Georgia Southern University and is only one hour from Savannah and the Atlantic coastal beaches.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated executive leadership in a public organization, familiarity with Georgia’s local funding and debt management methods and effective communication skills.  Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field is required.
