Planning Commission Meeting

The City of Metter Planning Commission, at its meeting on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 5:15 p.m. at Metter City Hall, located at 49 South Rountree Street, Metter, GA will meet for an advisory review, and will consider a Zoning Amendment for Districts R-1 (Single-Family Residential), R-2 (Single-Family Residential), R-3 (Single-Family Residential) and R-4 (Single-Family Residential) of the City of Metter’s Zoning Ordinance.

The purpose of this meeting is to hear public comments for and/or against to amend the Zoning Ordinance Article II, Section 2.25, Definitions, by deleting the definition of “Family” as now defined: (Family-One or more persons with the generic character of a family unit occupying a single dwelling unit and using a common cooking facility.)  

Amend the Zoning Ordinance Article II, Section 2.25, Definitions by inserting the following definition of “Family” which will apply to the following Zoning Districts R-1 (Single-Family Residential), R-2 (Single-Family Residential), R-3 (Single-Family Residential) and R-4 (Single- Family Residential):

a. One or more adult persons occupying a single dwelling unit, living and cooking together as a single housekeeping unit, who are related by blood, adoption, marriage, or other domestic relationship recognized by the State of Georgia.

b. A number of adult persons (not exceeding three (3) living and cooking together as a single housekeeping unit through not related by blood, adoption, marriage, or other domestic relationship recognized by the State of Georgia.

c. Roomers, borders, and other transient guests cannot be considered members of a family for the purpose of this definition.

Ample opportunity to be heard will be given to any citizen and all parties who are interested in attending the hearing.
